Last week or so it kept crashing , screen freezes or just crashes , I get a windows has crashed message and have to re start. Sometimes ive started from a last known safe setting start on F8 , but whatever I start from , it kept crashing. Sometimes it would start ok , then within seconds, it crashes again, then sometimes it would be ok for few minutes and then crash.
Sometimes it would crash 5 or 6 times in an hour, then sometimes It would be ok for an hour or so before it
crashes. I tried starting it in safe mode last night and
it was ok
When I took it into pc world last week , they said it was bit slow and suggested re setting it back to factory restore
So I tried that
But it wont connect to www now
It says ive got a signal , but it wont connect to www
Is the problem my computer or my internet connection.
Im on Virgin Broadband, and laptop is a packard bell about

That's about all PCW ever suggest!
Version of Windows?
Connection method (wireless or ethernet?)
If wireless, which security mode is router using?
Make and model of router?
Open device manager - anything with a red cross or yellow triangle? How do I add a signature?0 -
In addition to Figment's questions, (i) one has to ignore what happened prior to PCW restoring to factory settings, as essentially a lot will have changed. (ii) when you got it back have you gone through the usual setup process as new, eg re-establish your home page, wireless settings etc? (iii), always try connecting via ethernet cable when you may be having internet probs, if only to eliminate a wireless problem.(iv) if as Figment suggests, you find an error in the device manager, then PCW have not done what you paid for properly, give them a b*ll*cking and ask them to do it properly........0
