In 2008 i got myself into bother with debt, i was approched by an IVA company who completly pulled the wool over my eyes and convinced me that an IVA was my best opiton without really telling me what other options i had, the IVA was agreed, but about 1 an a half - 2 years into it, they began to demand more money, more then i could afford, which resulted in me failing the IVA after two an a half years being in the IVA and filling for bankruptcy so i went bankrupt. I was wondering if at all its possible to claim back some of the money that i paid the IVA company as the debts was written off through the bankruptcy?

And they kept uping the payments to make it impossible to carry on with the IVA.

Hi there. Probably not as most of it would have been used in fees -- and will depend on whatever you signed / agreed to at the time.

This reinforces the advice oft given here and elsewhere ... do not use a company that approached you out of the blue and please research several companies before taking the plunge.
