What do we do next?

OK this is so obviously going to be from a FTB :o

anyway, what do we do now?

We have agreed on a price, we know what mortgage to apply for and I think we know what solicitors we're going to use

but what do I actually do next? I can't apply for the mortgage without naming my solicitors, I can't ask the solicitors to act for us without knowing the mortgage :D

do I do them both at the same time (ie tomorrow)? :D:rotfl:

Call the solicitors first, they don't immediately need to know what mortgage co. you're using but you can tell them the BS without having started a mortgage app.

The sols will be able to point you in the right direction and talk you through the process - try to ensure you have a single contact at the solicitors for the whole transaction and get an estimate of their fee so you aren't surprised at the end.

Best of luck for an easy purchase

Stock up on hair dye (the kind that covers grey hair).
Buy a swear-box (you'll be able to furnish your house by the time it's completed).

    :D

Apart from that, just do everything as soon as you're asked and keep in touch with solicitors/estate agents/financial advisor/mortgage company etc. Remember that the survey will highlight problems - it's what you employ a surveyor for - so don't panic!

Never be afraid to ask questions.

Remember to keep on top of everyone - at the end of the day it's still partly your responsibility to ensure the purchase goes through. You can't rely on everyone else. Be contactable - sometimes things need to happen at short notice.

    Expect the unexpected. Always.

Remember, hangovers are a necessary part of the housebuying process ;)

Good luck! You'll be fine :p:D
