Does start up repair go nowhere?

If you have the Windows disc, can you change the boot order to CD Rom then hard drive, load the CD and see if it loads from that

If it has two hard drives, sometimes changing the boot order of those can help, even if you change it back when it has loaded.

I've found the safe menu options. When I attempt to get in, I get to the log in page but the pc freezes and the fan goes into overdrive.

Start up repair just says this problem cannot be fixed automatically.

Haven't had a good result from start up repair yet

I've got a disc thanks.

I can get into safe mode without networking but when I try to save changes in msconfig it freezes.

Safe mode with networking just brings up a black screen.
