Hi,

I have a windows 7 pc, every time I start up the pc it gets stuck on the desktop, it looks as though everything loads ok, except Kaspersky Anti Virus and the internet connection. I've tried system restore with no luck. Seems to be ok in safe mode though.

Please can someone help?

  • I've attempted to log in under another user and the internet connects ok, I guess there are less program's to load so I guess it just gets further before it freezes.

The problem still remains though, computer freezes and I have to power off.

How long are you waiting before powering off?

Does the hard drive LED flicker to indicate activity?

Try booting up in safe mode, then use MSCONFIG to disable all startup items. Test, then add them back one by one (rebooting after each) to see if you can pinpoint what's causing the issue.
How do I add a signature?

OK thanks, i'll give that a go.

    Events viewer shows this:

  • Stopping Kapersky in msconfig seems to have solved the problem. s is worthwhile uninstalling it and installing a different anti virus package instead?

If it is a paid for version, maybe worth re-installing that first, if it still does it, contact their tech support to see what they can do.

If none of the above sorts it then you could look at alternatives

  • Thanks for the advice, I'll contact Kaspersky if I have any further problems, as it seems to be clear that the anti-virus was causing the issue.

I can't get that option. All I get is...windows failed to load, then 2 2 options, load windows or startup repair...

Can't believe I had it working ok, then turned the av back on again, I should have just uninstalled it.
