Have done 12months on my DRO when should i hear from them whether its gone through ok

I have now completed my 12months on a Debt Relief Order 3 days ago-but I havent heard from the insolvency people at all, does that mean my debt relief order could have been revoked(cancelled) perhaps because of the way i spend my money as i do have a spending addiction and keep spending my Income Support on things i shouldnt be buying, which causes me to be short of money to put food on the table and pay all my household bills.

Do the insolvency people keep a check on your bank statements over the course of your DRO to see how your spending your money and what on? and if they think you've been recklessly spending then would it cause your debt relief order to be revoked?

Maybe you dont hear from them as soon as your twelve months are up-maybe it takes time before you hear whether or not your dro has gone through successfully or not.Can anyone put me right on this 'cause i just couldnt cope with the stress of having to start re paying all my thirty or so creditors again on a debt management plan because my debts are so big i havent a chance of clearing them during my lifetime as i'm in my sixties now, divorced, living in a council tenancy & have no savings whatsoever, just my Income Support.

I dont enjoy very good health at all either physically or mentally and Debt has had a profound effect on my mental and physical health, making it worse.

How soon should you hear whether your dro has gone through and the debts written off or if its been revoked?Shouldnt you hear from the insolvency people within a week of the 12months been up?
I cant sleep at night through worrying that my dro might have been revoked. If i dont hear soon should i ring the dro people and find out?

    Stop worrying.

Go the Insolveny Service website http://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/eiir/ Search for yourself, the office is DRO UNIT

This search will tell you the status of your DRO. I would have thought if the DRO had been revoked you would have known about it! You wont receive anything to tell you that your DRO is complete....the insolvency register is the only way so take a few copies!

I hope from reading your post that your not getting yourself into more bother :( I've completely changed my ways of thinking since my DRO was approved and its still active at the moment, but its helped me no end and I never want to go through what I did previous to my DRO, I hope you can see a light now...:)

  • Thanks to caz2003uk,i have looked on the insolvency register and as i thought my Debt Relief Order has been cancelled-its says i'm not eligible so will be straight on the phone to them tomorrow as i cant afford to repay those debts-have already been on a debt management programme for fifteen years with still another twelve to have done if i hadnt applied for a DRO-so it seems i will have to go on another debt management programme for another six years before i can apply for another dro.
I have no way of paying off my debts as i'm unable to work due to my health, plus my age would be against me as i'm sixty.I'm living off Income Support-however i do have a serious spending addiction and still spend unwisely and are often left with no money for my groceries and bills because i've spent on luxeries,so this might be the reason they've revoked my dro cause maybe they keep a check on my spending my my bank statements over this past year and they've discovered i've still been spending money i cant afford-so its a phone call to the insolvency people tomorrow and find out all the reasons why they've revoked it.Anyway, its no use worrying about it-i'll just re join a debt management company-perhaps try baines and ernst this time as have heard they are supposed to be good.

The insolvency register won't say 'not eligible'

    What does it actually say?

If it was revoked, why (and when) was it revoked? You should have been written to, as would your Intermediary.

I have had one DRO revoked and it was done on the final day of the DRO, but the reasons were clear and there had been correspondence/phone calls on the issue before that date.

How the heck can a debt relief order be 'cancelled' ....

you should copy and paste what it says (deleting any personal info, obviously!)
