Unemployment

Hi guys,

Is it possible to get a credit card if you're unemployed? Like, is there ANY C/C company that will dish out cards to unemployed. Need the 12 month 0% interest free period to use for establishing a new business.

Thanks!

LOL I'll take that as a no.

Ok then, what if I just say I'm working? Will they ever find out that I'm not?

And that opens up a whole ethical can of worms that nobody wants opened!

That sort of questionable behaviour is, put simply, fraudulent and there are systems in place to detect it. There have been many arguments/discussions here on the forum, so use the search box!

Well ive heard of Credit Card companies issue cards to Pets before! Recently the TV news was agast at ideas for childrens credit cards.

Anyway, one of those families on wife swap was unemployed and had a fairly tidy income. Im sure its possible, though to start up a business, it would have to be a fairly modest business i guess.

not sure how old you are but this may be of help if you are under 30

I'd be really careful about borrowing money on a credit card for business purposes. If you are unemployed you are likely to only get a low credit limit on a credit card anyway.

Lloyds TSB are advertising on the radio about loans they do for small businesses, that might be a direction to go in
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • ok so im unemployed with a good credit score that will get the money back in few months time, my friend will help pay the minimum payments til then.
is there a credit card i can get?

    Highly unlikely.

If you need the card for spending I suggest you look into prepay cards, which provide the same facilities (for a charge). Try a search of the site for details of them.

hi the cc geezer only came on here for "FRIENLY" advice

some credit card company's will accept you, but you will pay high apr,
cards such as vanquis, capitalone, and aqua might accept you,

its never guaranteed but these company's if you have a good credit rating will accept unemployed, because they make alot off you in interest

    good luck in your business.

Go over to the Small Business board, ask friends or family for a loan, try saving up (car boot sales, ebays etc) to raise some capital - a credit card is not a good option to fund a new business
