in Credit cards
Hi, I am in need of some advise.
I have had a Sainsburys standard credit card for over 2years and in that 2years I have always paid off my balance in full and dont have any interest.
After reading the article on the home page it explained if balance is always paid in full then search for a credit card that offers benefits. I like the idea of shopping and getting paid for it so I applied for a Asda mastercard but was refused unsure why but I wonder if it would be to do with being a student. I now see that Sainsburys are doing cash back and want to apply for the Standard card with cash back but I would have to close my old account.
When I called the application number barely able to hear the advisor with aload of racket going on in the background he offered me the platinum card without looking at my status. I told him I will have a look on the website because I didnt want to agree anthing after missing half of what he was saying. My worry is could I get knocked back with the platnium card even being a loyal customer or I should just stick to applying for the standard card? and Will my credit rating be effected? Or are there any better deals out there for student credit cards? I am interest in the platnium due to the large credit limit which would come in handy to me.
Thanks

I doubt they would do another credit check if you already have a card with them. From what I can see on the website you will get 0% interest on purchases and nector poaints. As student you would have to be very disiplined to put the money each month into a high rate savings account instaed of paying it off. I doubt you would make much interest out of it.
Having said that if this is the only card you can get, it sounds a better deal to the one you have so I'd call again and ask therm to expalin the terms. Hopefully you it will be a better line this time.
Good luck0
