The other oft quoted cliche is to spread your investment. An experienced gambler will study the form and hedge his bets to spread the risk. Very rarely will he lose the lot. The IFA and bookie are both guaranteed to make a profit.

In both examples the more risk you are prepared to take the higher is the potential for reward.
