From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Shabby chic is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, opulent, yet cottage-style decor, often with a feminine feel is emphasized to differentiate it from genuine period d!cor.

Add some Cath Kidston type 'retro' fabric, chicken wire and bash the corners a bit and there you have it!
Shabby Chic - try here for inspiration
It brings up memories of that daytime TV classic "Change That"... take one relatively decent-looking bit of furniture... let a celeb interior designer make it over, come back at the end and try to look like you like it, then take it to the skip.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
An old piece of furniture with natural wear and tear marks, faded or cracked paint or an old piece of furniture which has been restored to look shabby (paint sanded off in places etc) and at an affordable price.
However I've seen lots of listings on ebay selling 'shabby chic' furniture for 100's along with the sellers trying to palm off their old and ugly tat for 100's by claiming its shabby chic.0
