Screen went black when using and unable to switch off unless the battery is removed.
If trying to boot-up, the power button flashes and a few lights at the top of the keyboard, but can't be forced off.
Only a couple of years old, any ideas??
Many thanks in advance for any help.

I've had similar issues on a Dell Laptop before.
Turns out the mobo completely commited, I'd get in contact with acer if I were you.- David0 -
have you tried to plug it in to an external monitor to see if its a graphics problem (dead screen or something?)0

Thank you for the replies.
The motherboard was suggested.
What would the cost of a repair (if possible) be or a replacement motherboard??
Was hoping for something like a fan??
Don't want to waste too much on a repair and would rather put the money towards another new laptop.

It's a long shot, but you could try this to fully discharge the circuits,
Unplug the AC adapter, and remove the battery,
Press and hold down the Power button for at least 30 seconds,
then release the button,
replace the battery and see if powers up..

Does it power off if you hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds? How do I add a signature?0

Thanks again.
Haven't tried connecting to a monitor yet, will do at the weekand as Brother has loads of leads etc.
I've tried the power button, holding it for 30 seconds plus, but no joy. If the battery is connected, it has to be removed to switch off. With no battery, simply just unplug.
