Creation - Unauthorised Debit Card Transaction

Be warned. Creation Consumer Finance Ltd seem to think its ok to make unauthorised debit card transactions. Gave them my details to pay a car insurance installment a month ago and this month they have taken another payment on the card without even contacting me. Also their broker, OnceCall Insurance did the same thing with my mother in laws credit card, took a payment without her or my authorisation (she had used her card to pay the initial amount when the car insurance was set up). I will never be using either of these companies again.
Should I report this anywhere? Do us consumers actually have any rights to penalise these companies for just 'taking' our money without our permission?

There are some new rules that help with this. Apparently if you contact the bank or credit card company as soon as you become aware of the unauthorised payments, they have to reverse them. I have read this recently, but can't remember where it was posted.
The route for compensation would be a complaint to the company concerned and if they don't resolve to your satisfaction within 8 weeks, you can ask the financial ombudsman to take the complaint. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
