Where to sell magazines?

Hello all,

I was looking for some advice on where to sell some magazines.

I have several years worth of back issues of aviation magazines, and I'm now looking to declutter. I've been trying to get rid of these for quite some time now (about a year), and as they're taking up about 1/3 of my car, I really want to get rid of them soon. I've given myself until the end of June to sell them before they go to a charity shop, but want to exhaust all the possible options and ways of selling them before I do so.

I've tried eBay, Gumtree, LOOT, the ads board in Tesco and my internal works forum (I work for an airline), but to no avail. I started at £200 for the lot, and am now down to £50 for them. They weigh about 80kg, so postage is obviously very expensive.

What other ways could I try before I throw the towel in on this one!?

Thanks :)

You could try splitting them into their different years and selling them in bundles.

Are there no specialist fairs or trading shows you could go to?

The problem with nearly all magazines is that they are virtually worthless. Even incredibly rare music ones won't go for more than £20 - £50.

You may find that the charity shop won't thank you for landing on their doorstep with them.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

I've sold lots of father-in-laws old train magazines at carboot sales.

If you reach a point where you're not worried about the cash and just want them out of the way, then you could put them on freecycle and see if you can find a good home for them.

My own experience with aviation magazines is that they are pretty worthless unless they are really old (pre 1960) or more obscure ones. If its the usual weekly/monthly issues that you can buy in your local newsagent etc, then they are only worth dumping in the recycling bin.

Have you tried a boot sale (but sell other stuff on the same stall should nobody buy the magazines)?

Maybe there are some aviation forums online that someone may like them.

Have you looked on ebay to see if there are any specific issues people are bidding on?
