Kitchen worktop and splashback advice

Hello all,
I am looking to get some work done on my kitchen over the next few weeks (see picture below). Due to budget limitations I am only looking to change the worktops, sink/hob and remove old tiles and install a new splashback and upstands. What I was hoping for was some suggested colours for the worktop and the splashbacks/upstands. I am leaning towards black stone-like worktops with the upstands/worktop being glass but unsure of the colour but i am open to anything. The walls will be painted white.

Any suggestions would be highly welcome!
Thanks,
Sean.

Hi Sean,
I think I might go for a paler, stoney look worktop - but black would be ok too - and then a pale-ish green for the upstands/splashback (to contrast with the slightly orangey look of the wood).I write blogs about kitchens ... and I design kitchens for a living ... I just love kitchens!0 -
Hi Sean,
I've recently had a new kitchen installed and although we chose our kitchen worktops quite quickly (black granite) we had difficulty deciding on a colour for our glass splashback. Came across this splashback colour picker tool on this website
uksplashbacks.com/what-colour.asp
(sorry about the lack of link. Maybe cut and paste?)
Got them to do the job too. Very good. The missus chose a strong pink!
Hope this helps.0
