Santander 123 cc - rejected

in Credit cards
Hi all, I applied online recently for Santander's 123 cashback credit card and had a letter through today saying I have been rejected. I can't understand why I have been rejected, I thought I had good credit score.
The last time I went overdrawn was about 6 months ago and that was for about £10 and I paid money into my account straight away once I realised. I have one credit card with my bank account which I pay off in full every month. I also bought my first house with my partner in November and got our mortgage through Santander - so how come they will give me a mortgage and not a credit card? The only other thing I have is a student loan but I didn't think that counted in these things?
I applied online so I could go through a cashback site to basically void the £24 annual fee. The letter says I can appeal but I'm not sure what to write. Has anyone had a similar experience and have any advice what to say in the appeal letter? Thanks!

I haven't had experience of Santander but have successfully appealed automated declines (and many times too).
Some on here will vehemently disagree with my ethos which is simply "always appeal". By appealing you give Santander a lot of positives but you will lose:
1) About an hour of your time pulling a letter together and copies of statements etc
2) The cost of a stamp and envelope
If you are ok losing the above, then why not appeal?Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -
Thanks both. i Will attempt an appeal letter tomorrow to send to them and hope they Will reconsider!2013 Wins: Hot air balloon ride for 2!0

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but how did the appeal go Vicky? I'm just writing an appeal letter to them now.0
