Please could you give NCD advice?

Hi, I was hoping I could get some advice please!

I have had a renewal quote on my car insurance but it doesn't say anything about the accident that I had during the year. Because of this my no claims discount has stayed at 5 years. I rang them up and questioned this and they said it wasn't updated on their system and my NCD is 2 years and they were going to email me the updated NCD proof for my next insurer.
I have since got quotes based on the 2 years NCD and bought insurance with another company.
The old insurers emailed the NCD proof today and it still states 5 years unprotected.
Basically, my question is with this proof I have had emailed to me with today's date on should I ring up the new insurers and change the NCD to the 5 years that is stated?
I'm worried that if I do this and then have to make a claim it may become void or something.
I'm a bit confused with it all and really appreciate any advice please.
Thanks in advance!

  • As long as you told you new company about the accident, i'd keep quiet. Same happened to me a few years ago, i changed insurance companies and stated 2 years ncd. Asked old company to send me proof of ncd, came back with 3 years. Sent it off to the new company and they refunded me some money!
  • Well I have declared the accident to them (in the compare the market search engine) so you think I should tell them I made a typo and it should be a 5 instead of a 2?
I suppose they'll question it if I don't say anything and then they get the copy of proof of NCD saying 5 yrs instead.
  • No, as that would not be true. Don't make any false statements.
  • So I'll wait for the new insurer to ask for proof of no claims then send them it and see what they say?
