We have a check due to be cleared soon and wish to transfer funds to different accounts in different banks. I went to check if i could do this on the internet banking and it says that i cant do this and need to contact them due to my phone numbers or something??? They are all correct and upto date, i am sure they dont want me to use any of the money in the account.

Lloyds TSB use telephone authorisation with setting up new standing orders or faster payments where they call you on your phone number which you have set up in internet banking and you have to enter a code before the first faster payment is sent to anyone.0

Your phone number has to be computer-readable, because the computer will phone you up. Computers are very stupid. Anything except a simple string of digits starting with a 0 will confuse it."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

But my phone number is upto date?It keeps saying this:
To make this arrangement, we will need to call you to ask for your authorisation. We’re sorry but we don’t have a contact number for you at present.
Please call us on 0845 3 000 000 (calls may be recorded).

Don’t forget to keep your telephone details up to date online:

For some reason, the computer thinks it doesn't know what to dial.
If you try to refresh your number online, I expect there'll be a delay. Otherwise, anybody who broke into your online account could change your phone number and defeat the whole object.
If you have updated your number recently, that could be the reason it's not working.
These bright ideas are a pain when they don't work. You may have to phone them."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
