Should we be worried about Santander taking over banking in the high street? There is a lot on tv about the euro crisis and spainish banks and I thought this was a Spanish banking group. They are about to take over my account withRBS

It's a spanish banking group, but it has a UK license, so you are covered by UK FSCS by a full £85K.0

You could always move your account to either Natwest in England or RBS in Scotland. However your main risk with Santander is their awful service rather than losing any money.0

I have held, or am holding, accounts with many other banks, and bottom line, I don't think there is anything between them. They all have good and bad points.
I find the Santander service quite acceptable but I only have experience as an in-credit customer. It may be different if you have loans or need overdrafts.
I love their savings interest rates. Well, as much as you can love any of them atm.0
