advice needed natwest

hi,
i am trying to re-claim bank charges from natwest ( over £5000) , i am in financial hardship.Natwest have just issued their final response , which was to reject my claim but sent me a cheque for £100 as a goodwill gesture . i am going to complain to the ombudsman but dont know what to do with the cheque. any advice would be appreciated.

    If someone refused my offer of £100 I would expect it back.
    You can't keep it if you are going to FOS. Before you finally decide though, make sure your case for complaint is rock solid.

    Sounds like you raised a complaint ages ago with the Bank and that's why you got the cheque. That's what's happening lately.

    Anyway, if your complaint was rejected I can't imagine that there were grounds for Natwest to refund the charges. Have you still been using the account? Did you take it upon yourself to cancel any regular payments to stop further charges?

    I can't imagine the FOS would overturn the decision unless there has been some sort of bank error which is why you're getting the charges.

  • i closed the account a couple of years ago when i first tried to re-claim the charges , i am trying to re-claim via the hardship route,how would i make sure i have a solid case ?
