I'm just doing exactly this...so far my £192 has meant that CountryWide (HSBC's solicitors) have delayed my move by 6weeks and counting, I'm homeless and have realised why buying a house is so stressful...
Currently I feel incredibly lucky my buyer isn't pulling out of the deal, as we're now 5 months down the line since I put in my offer and got it accepted. I can honestly say I hate HSBC and Countrywide with a passion, and am putting in a complaint with them (on the advice of my solicitor). Wait until August when they drop their stupid CountryWide-run scheme, you can use your own solicitor (as long as they have the correct qualification thing) without paying the £192 and you may even get to move this year!
Other than that - I've got a great mortgage rate and their adviser was nice, and not even that pushy on all the 'extras' of insurance etc.

So, you're homeless, the purchase has been delayed by 6 weeks, and it is only through the goodwill of your vendor that you have not lost the purchase, but you've got a good rate, and the sales person was nice!....................

Yep, you've got it!
Well, I thought I'd end the post on a high note. After all, HSBC/Countrywide's completely terrible service has been well documented. I figured I should at least make my review fair by pointing out the tiny good things as well as the massive amount of bad. Otherwise it just read like some hate-filled rant (which it could easily have been.)Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
So far so good with HSBC.
Initial checks were approved, AIP was issued 3 days after application.
Sent them payslips etc Friday and was all approved yesterday and the valuation is taking place today.0 -

What a difference a month makes.
They're taking so long to approve any documents. I'm phoning them almost on a daily basis to chase them up.
They keep trying to call my solicitor after 7pm so no-one there to answer, when my solicitor calls them back in the morning there's no-one available to take their call. Ridiculous.0 -
Still waiting to exchange contracts, the solicitor acting on behalf of HSBC have been an absolute nightmare. Constant queries, taking 2 weeks to even look at responses and then requesting more information!
Lucky I'm staying with my parents until it goes through and have been able to save money for furniture etc, but extremely frustrating regardless.0
