Arrrggghhh! Toddler & food!

Arrrrggghhhhhhhhh!:mad::mad::mad: Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest:o My 19 month old seems to have hit the terrible 2's a few months eary & is having tantrums over anything & everything:mad: plus he hasn't been very well & his appetite suffered, although now fully recovered his eating hasn't, he seems to be surviving on a scrambled egg for breakfast then milk & bananas through the day, refusing all food at mealtimes except bananas, and having a tantrum if he doesn't get a banana:mad: From this evening onwards we have reverted back to the beginning with feeding, no food except in his chair at mealtimes, no pudding if he doesn't eat the main course & (trying to) keep calm no matter what:rolleyes:. He is currently running around screaming because, having not eaten his cottage pie, he helped himself to an apple & I took it away from him. Someone please tell me this will pass.............quickly!
Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!

:j Don't worry Lillibet, it will pass! But if he is eating bananas and apples, I really wouldn't worry about the cottage pie, let him have them. my 2 year old has been fussy for the last couple of months and eats loads of Cheerios, wholemeal toast, yoghurts, apples and pasta but not much else. I stressed about this sort of thing with my first son so I know now that it won't last, and am just letting him have the healthy things he wants, and try other foods the odd time. If they any sign of stress from you, it'll make matters alot worse.
You're doing great and he sounds totally normal to me! Good luck!:T

Lillibet, really easy to say when it's not yours but don't make a fuss, just ignore. put on his plate the items that he will eat and add something else, eg scrambled egg and a piece of cheese, if he eats praise a lot, if he doesn't ignore &, remove without comment.

BTW it will pass, but then they learn to talk and answer you back instead ;) :rotfl:
  • Of course is will pass, and then you will get the next phase, and the one after that, they are all fun when you look back on them, it just seems like the end of the world when it is happening.

Keep in there, you know he is just testing you. You'll get the feeding back on track
  • dd1 was like that, never ate any meals we prepared. Children don't starve themselves so don't worry. It does pass much to our amusement, dd eats us out of house and home and is always demanding food
