Bought a Bay Tree from Aldi
I bought a Laurus Nobilis Bay tree from Aldi's and on the instructions it states Not for Consumption is this wrong? because i always thought Laurus Nobilis could be used for cooking. Should i take it back as i want it for cooking and stews, not for show.
The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.

We have a large 10ft Laurus Nobilis in our garden and i've been using the leaves for cooking since we moved in nearly two years ago ... I just saw it, went 'great a bay tree' .... No harm done so far :rotfl:0

Many plants that are edible have a "not for consumption" label on them when they are sold - indeed, Aldi lemon trees do as well. The point is, they may well have been sprayed with insecticide or, at the very least, not washed, and the shop doesn't want the responsibility. Food products have to go through so many tests to declare them fit for human consumption... best if the shop sells them as decorative plants.
There's no problem; if you are neurotic, wait six months, and only use the new leaves. Otherwise, yes, I would wait a week or two until it has been well washed by rain (well, a day might be enough this summer!!!), but then just use as you want.
(Even some of the strawberry plants I bought in either Homebase or B&Q in a sale were labelled "not for consumption"... I'm still alive!)0 -

Yes the moronic Elf'n'Safety strike again.
We recently bought some dog shampoo which said on the side "This product has not been tested on animals", so how they know it works is baffling.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts.
