I am planning a trip to Barbados and would appreciate feedback as to which airline to fly with from London Gatwick. We shall be traveling by Premium Economy so any constructive feedback in comparing BA with Virgin would be very helpful !

I would always choose BA over Virgin, their planes at Gatwick are far from the best and it will be another 18 months before they have been updated. However, most people choose on price and ignore everything we say on here! Just check out www.airlinequality.com and see what they say about Virgin!0

You did not indicate when you intend flying - but if it is in the coming months, BA have some great business class flight prices available in their sale which is running for another couple of days.
You might just bag business class flights for the price you intend to pay for PE.
Edit to add
Just checked - you won't - but there are some great prices available for business class.0 -
If both airlines are the same price i'd pick BA everytime they're far superior to Virgin, i was very disappointed with Virgin when i flew with them, i expected it to be a real treat and it was no different to Thomas Cook or Thomsons except the drinks were free.0

I've flown PE on Virgin to Barbados and it was ok, we sat upstairs, which is obviously smaller than the main cabin and has a more private feel to it.
I've also flown to Barbados on BA, we'd booked PE but were very lucky to get upgraded to Club on both legs, so in that respect, I can't compare.
However, I would go for BA over Virgin every time but I am a Silver Exec club member now so get benefits with BA that I don't get with Virgin.
I would highly recommend reading the relevant pages on
www.flyertalk.com
There are very informative forums for both airlines and you will find heaps of information and opinions on both Virgin & BA.0 -
Another thing to keep in mind is the points you'll earn for the flight. I think that for the average traveler, BA's Executive Club will be more attractive than Virgin's Flying Club and a return flight to Barbados with BA in PE will earn you enough points for a reward return flight from the UK to many European destinations.0

We actually flew to Barbados with Thompson and I was surprised how good it was, we did upgrade to premium, not sure if they sell the seats though.0
