How Long between Mortgage Application and Survey?

Thanks for the reply marybishop
I have actually been to see the vendors last night who were as shocked as I was and kept on apologising for the agent's behaviour. We have now exchanged contact details and will try to have direct contact. I don't think that they will agree to put the house back on the market tomorrow: they understand that we are doing everything possible to move things along as quickly as possible. (she actually said "we are in the hands of the gods" :A !)
Unfortunately it goes to show how far some estate agents (let's not generalise) are prepared to go:mad: : it transpires that they lied to their client!:eek:
I won't be doing anything with that agency until we have completed (I would like to get the keys !) but once that is done I will probably complain with the head office of the agency (I won't be naming them sorry guys!
)
Now we'll see how it goes !rafraf03

Rafraf03 - great minds think alike! Good for you - glad the vendors are of the same mind. It really annoys me when (some) EA's behave like this - they really can jeopardise everything and make people's lives a misery at the same time. I agree - I would wait until you've completed and then make a complaint.0

As to the EA saying he will put the property back on the market - if I were you I would check with the vendor that this instruction hasn't come from from him/her and if not then I would be getting very cross with the EA as should the vendor. Unfortunately as surveyors we hear this all the time and we have known EA's to tell pork pies in saying that it's the vendor who is pushing when in fact it isn't. Don't be pushed into a corner by the EA - they're only after their commission! The whole housebuying process is stressful enough as it is without the EA adding to it.
Mary i dont think this is true. They have contracts with their surveyors which means you have to have theirs. If you want another you have to pay twice.
You can go straight to the surveyors however and ask for a retype which saves about £50.
They dont make millions of pounds profit for nothing!0 -
You could be right - we're independent so don't have any links with any of the lenders. But what worries me is that I know for a fact that surveyors who are contracted by the lenders have to carry out a set number of surveys in a day which means they are under enormous pressure to meet their target - no wonder mistakes are made!0
