Always taken out the maximum protection possible as regards home insurance and boiler/central heating insurance. However, change in circumstances means having to cut back. Any opinions would be appreciated as these are due in next few weeks.
Home Insurance
1 Additional Contents Accidental Damage (not standard accidental damage included in policy) - no valuable items - is it worth having?
2 Home Emergency Cover £80 per yr - is it worth having?
3 Garden Cover £40 per yr - never actually had this previously but I notice it is now an option on some policies. 6ft high fences probably 20 yr+. Some support posts were replaced this year due to storm damage totalling £380 paid from savings. Fencing slats including strapping not replaced, taken down and put back up. Any thoughts on this cover, wondering if any claim was to be made in event of storm damage would it probably be rejected on the basis of wear and tear due to age of fence?
Gas Boiler/Central Heating/Drain/Electric Cover
Currently £38.00 per month. Is it worth having this insurance which covers an annual service or is it best just to put money aside just in case?

All these questions depend on whether the Insurers actually deliver on the cover they offer.
What comparisons have you done ?
Accidental Damage on Buildings and Contents is definitely worth it.
Home Emergency. Depends on what they cover and what they exclude. What company provides this service ?
Gas Boiler/heating/Drainage - Depends on who actually provides this. Are they reliable and what would they actually cover. What are the conditions for this cover, whereby if you failed to meet a condition, they would not offer you any assistance. Discuss this cover with your Insurers. You may be better off elsewhere.
Garden Cover. Without reading the policy terms, difficult to say. Phone the Insurers and ask about what this covers and what events they would exclude. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
