Barclaycard Initial APR

Hi, I just called to close my Barclaycard Initial account. I've been transfered to redemption team and offered 6 months 0% for purchases or APR reduction. I take the second option and my rate dropped down to 21.9%. Lady on the phone said she can only drop interest by 8%, but I can call in some 3-4 months for any further decrease. HTH

Barclaycard are good like that I had did the same, called up to close my account and they offered me £100, a few months later did the same and got £50.00

Going to leave it a while longer and see what I get next time.

How long did you guys have the card before doing it?

I've had mine about 8 months and have held a balance on it for the last 2-3 months, partly due to an error with their payment system.

But I wouldn't mind getting a free £50+ off them. Should I be clearing the balance before telling them I want to close?
