does anyone know if benefits are affected by getting financial support for degree?

Title says it all really, I want to do a degree with open university and I am looking at the financial support but just wondered if it will affect my housing benefit and tax credits if I do it? Any help?

Thanks x

You don't get any financial support for studying with the OU, only loans for the fees, so this wouldn't affect benefits.

Ditto - you can only claim the fee loan not student support.

I got full financial support for my OU courses that doesn't have to be paid back. :S

    So how much

    Money towards you fees?
Money towards your day to day living expenses?
    Dependent's allowances?

    You are very fortunate.

Mind you, I've noticed that there is a very high attrition rate for those that don't pay. Those that have to pay £800+ per module tend to take it a little more seriously.

New students starting from September will need to take out loans for the fees. There never has been any maintenance support when studying with the OU that could affect benefits.

I get my fees paid for me and how much is dependent on how much the course fee is but usually around £800 a course.

I didn't say *you* didn't. I was merely musing out loud.
