Barclaycard PPI

Dear Forum,
I am a little unsure of how to proceed with my Barclaycard claim and hope for a little advice.
I was told by Barclaycard six weeks ago that the reason my charges are high, is because I pay £50 a month PPI.! Good grief, I was not aware of this. I followed their proceedure to reclaim which I did and they rejected my claim. I then put this in the hands of "challengeyour.com", who so far has done nothing that I am aware of, other than trying to convince me to blanket cover every loan/cc I ever had. I am only interested in the barclaycard and have told them I have had previous correspondence with BC which they didnt want to see.
My questions are:
1. Is it ok for me to cancel this PPI with Barclaycard or will I risk not getting my claims accepted? I didn't know I was paying it till last month and I have had a BC for 15 years.
2. Am I ok using "challengeyour.com" or should I cancel their application and do it myself. I am very worried about not being able to do it properly myself.
Your advice would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

Don't pay for PPI if you don't want or need it
Don't use a reclaim company. They'll charge you a fortune for something you can do yourself for very little effort - just follow the advice given on this site.
I'm a bit worried you may have already contractually agreed to using a claims company. I do hope I'm wrong in this respect.0 -
Yes exactly the same thing happened with my friend's son PPI Barclaycard claim so I:
- got him to cancel his PPI as I said it was a bit pointless him arguing about it if he was still paying it
- I cancelled his claim's company and made them email him to confirm that they were no longer representing him
- I then did his claim for free, sent it in on 2nd April and it was repaid on 19th June
- he was self employed though so I don't know what your circumstances are
- but it is really easy to do the claim yourself using the templates on this site.0 -

The only issue with that approach is that most of these claim handling companies include within their terms and conditions something that allows the company to charge the customer for their time already spent on the customer's case(s), in the case of a customer cancelling.
Either you got lucky and your friend's son's company strangely didn't include such a term or your friend's son's company are so inept they don't even know their own terms
... or the bill is currently in the post! :eek:0 -
Hi Wywth
Or I got in there quick! That's why I demanded an email to confirm that they would not continue the claim and that my friend's son would not be liable. I don't think they had actually got started so they didn't seem that bothered to stop.0
