Tax Credit Help/Advice

Hi I'm hoping someone can relieve some stress that my wife and I are under. We've received a letter from family tax credit which states, thanks to the Mr Cameron's new limits:mad:, we won't be getting tax credit this year for our 2 year old and 6week old and to boot we owe them £2400 from last year because what we had earned was more than our estimate.
We knew this was coming because we did our research, like good money savers, before our renewal was due. However we've been told that we have to pay a lump sum up front before we're allowed to use the repayment scheme meant for people with financial hardship.
We're both NHS workers and are going to use child care vouchers for our sons nursery fees. So really I was just after advice really on my rights in regards to paying back what we owe.
Thanks in advance

There is no requirement to make a lump sum payment before you can access hardship provisions.
The full recovery policy is set out here. You made to quote it to debt management: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/how-hmrc-handle-txcr-opay.pdf

Hi Gteverall84,
We are in the same boat, Thanks to Mr Cameron we receive no Tax Credits and they have sent a letter regarding Moneys owed. I called them and said I could pay £10 a month back, can't do no more, they accepted that. You have to call the number on the letter and they will sort it for you. Had we still had tax credits it would of got taken out of that. and Now the change,,thanks to Cameron, we lose out like you. My heart goes out to you and hopefully we will all come out good soon. All the best.0
