Euro account in UK?

Can anyone help?

I will be receiving child maintenance specified as a Euro figure by an Irish court for my son. Does anyone know if I can open a Euro account in England?

Any advice on this appreciated

  • Citibank offer one but there is a fee from later this month if the average balance is less than 2000 euros ... so may not be appropriate. Will you be wanting to convert the euros to £? if so you do need to find somewhere where the exchange charges are not too high and the rate is not loaded (i think Citibank score well on this so maybe that would offset the monthly fee).

Thanks for your reply...Yes I would need to change the money to £

They all seem to have quite high Minimum balances. Its not really going to be a savings account so I imagine I would occur a monthly fee. I'll have a look -thank you.

Barclays has one, and so does HSBC. Barclays euro accts are actually based in ireland so might be a good choice for you?

You could open an offshore euro account.
I opened one recently with LTSB, no minimum balance and zero fees. Then exchange to £, rate was same as Moneycorp and then no fee transfer to my UK LTSB account.
