Going to Wembley to watch the Olympic football final, found out on here that it is best to take the Metropolitan line from Kings Cross. We have 2/3 hours to spare before the start, which would be the best station to get off and have a bite to eat, some nice shops, tourist attraction etc. ?
Thanks

Going with 2 teenage sons from N Yorkshire so not used to the big city, would like somewhere with pleasant surroundings. I think it could be a fast food meal depends on the time we have.no debts0 -
I would get the metropolitan line to Wembley from Kings Cross rather than going for a meal to in Kings Cross. If you only have a couple of hours from arrival to get to Wembley, it will take about 25-30 minutes to get from Kings cross to Wembley Park and if there are lots of people using the route it may be that you have to wait a while to squeeze onto the tube train so it will take longer than usual. You will then have the walk from the station to the stadium which is only a few minutes walk usually, but slow going with the crowds and then you have the queues to get in and to allow time for that and to find your seat. There are fast food outlet places on the walkway down to the Stadium that you may have to grab something to eat at or there is a McDonalds which will be pretty crowded in a trading estate off the walkway (you can buy bottled water at the Lidl there, remember to take spare bottle tops and put them in your pocket as they will take bottle tops off you on entry and it is a pain not being able to put the bottle tops back on during an event).0

I'd not take the risk of being so near, yet so far ... if things changed. I'd go to my destination station and then take pot luck on what I could find.... knowing I'd at least reached my destination and was within walking distance of the queue/entrance and not dependent upon traffic/transport systems.0

There's a Mcdonalds across the road from Kings Cross, there is also a Tesco Metro outside Kings Cross.
Be aware that when you leave Wembley there will be a queue like you have never seen to get onto the tube, it can easily take 45 minutes to get on the tube so take this into account along with the last train time0
