Cheap Places to Stay When Travelling Through France

We're taking our 4 year old camping in France this summer and decided that we'd split the journey with an overnight stay. I found Formulae 1 hotels at hotelformule1.com and booked a basic room with a double bed and a single bed for just £19.68 in mid-August!
The room however does not have on suite facilities, but they are part of the Accor group who seem to offer various different types of hotels at reasonable rates throughout France.

we stayed in formulae 1 regular many years ago now on our annual trips to the south of france, they were always clean. there were several bathrooms on each floor all self cleaning when you left the room and turned light out.
they were nothing fancy but serve the purpose for an overnight stay.

Formulae 1 are great places to stay especially when you are lucky enough to get the really cheap rate. There are plenty of bathrooms on each floor.

ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.
  • Don't know if things have changed but F1 hotels generally have a double bed with a single bunk over, accessed by a ladder.

FormulE 1, for the sake of those googling ;)

Another option for a countryside stay is a gite - the closest you'll get to a B&B in France. We've stayed in some lovely ones. For listings, look here: http://en.gites-de-france.com

Depending on the chain, some do have en suite facilities (and there are lots of these chains in most major towns and cities, usually in the industrial areas on the outskirts).

Hotels Etap are essentially Formule 1 with basic en suite added.

There are quite a few competitors as well
