RBS Customers- what are you doing?

I have been with RBS for over 30 years and always been happy with the service etc . I know there are ways to stay via a Scottish Branch but I am not sure I will bother with this. I think it is either time to change to a bank that gives the most benefits- such as actual cash incentives - or go with Santander as the process SHOULD be the most straightforward and automatic( I would probably try to switch to the 123 account).
So, what are the majority planning to do? It would be interesting to see the ratio of those planning to stay with Santander and, of those moving, where are the favourite destinations.

Judging by other threads on this subject a great many people moved to a Scottish based RBS branch.
Clearly you can wait and suffer the rigours of Santander bnaking "service".
Like many others I moved my RBS account ages ago.0 -
If I was affected I'd be looking to move to either a Scottish branch or to a different bank altogether before Santander got their hooks into me.0

If you've been happy with the service from RBS for the last 30 years and are still happy then why not open a brand new NatWest account at your local branch then transfer your direct debits etc over from your soon to be Santander account - then close it. Doing this means you stay within the RBS group with identical service that you're used to and keep a local branch - not having it hundreds of miles away in a possibly soon to be 'foreign' country
Of course on the down side there will be no cash incentives doing this. 0 -

Exactly what I have done.
I used the NatWest switching service to move the DDs over.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. As I live in Scotland but hold accounts in an English branch, I was rather peed off to be told I was moving, popped into my local branch and they filled out the forms to keep me with them.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

I don't think it can be much clearer than the advice already given in this and many other threads. Assuming you are in England, the preferred options (in no particular order) will be to stay with RBS by transferring to a Scottish branch, stay within the group by switching to a NatWest branch, or switch to another bank of your own choosing. The least appealing option is to do nothing and end up with Santander by default.0 -
Personally I'd see it as a good opportunity to get away from the RBS Group.
I would rather be with Santander than with RBS.0 -
I had both Scottish and English RBS accounts: switched the English ones to Scotland, and also opened Halifax Reward and Lloyds Vantage current accounts. The Lloyds may well become my normal current account, but I wanted to be able to switch gradually. I do most of my banking online anyway, but both Halifax and Lloyds have branches open on Saturdays near me, so that's handy on the occasions I need one.0
