Does anyone know if my no claims discount will be affected if I notify a car accident to my insurer but pay for the repair myself.
Thanks
Thanks

Your NCD will not be afffected as NCD is about claims not accidents.
However your premiums may rise even if it's a non-fault accident.0 -

Assuming there was a third party involved, and you were either partially or fully liable, then your NCD will be affected when the third party or their insurer claims against your policy.
(And if my assumption is wrong, and no third party is involved, why are you notifying your insurer at all?)0 -
As a general rule, if your insurance company pays out, it'll affect your NCB and premium.
So if you paid for the repair yourself but a third party claimed against you, your NCB would fall and premium would probably rise.
Although if you (for example) simply hit something other than a car (reversing into a lamppost/wall?), this wouldn't affect your NCB.0 -
There was a third party involved but there was no damage to their vehicle. They have told me they won't be making a claim as there was no damage to their vehicle. I'm taking a risk that they keep to their word and so far they haven't notified my insurer. The damage to my vehicle is about £300 and if I claim then I have a £200 excess and my premium will go up about £100 based on losing 2 years NCD.. If they do come back with a claim then obviously I'll be out of pocket for another £100 with the loss of NCD but if they don't then I will have saved my NCD and indeed gained another years bonus.0

It would be well worth getting the other driver to confirm in writing that his car wasn't damaged and that he wasn't injured and won't be making a claim.
However, since some injuries aren't immediately apparent, it's possible an injury claim could be made later if he/she changes his/her mind and believes you were at fault.
Your NCD shouldn't be affected if there isn't a claim but your insurers may deduct some if they think there may be a claim on its way.
In my experience, when I informed my insurers about an accident and told them that the other driver's insurers were going to repair my car at their expense, they simply noted it and it never affected my NCD.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
