Had a homebuyers or basic survey opining Subsidence?

On older properties, cracks in the walls are usually classed as 'ongoing subsidence' to cover the surveyor in case of future pitfalls, but for the FTB's (like me) cause a great deal of stress and potential outlay.

Please don't, as I first assumed, consider you now need to instruct for a full structural survey at around the thousand pound mark, just for another surveyor to duplicate the majority of the first report and have a different opinion - who's would you believe?

I did some searching and came up with this company - local to me, but apparently active nationally.

http://www.subsidence.org.uk/

They will offer a basic expert view of apparent subsidence with a short report for 125 + vat. I've booked a report today and will hopefully be able to give a good idea if it was money well-spent.

Hopefully not along the lines of '*kick the walls and do sharp intake of breath* "Ooo.. that's gonna cost - you can't get the spares these days" ;)

EDIT: If they aren't national, hopefully a similar company will offer the services in your area.
