The figures speak for themselves damanpunk.
Over the past few years the UK average prices have stagnated or fallen in general.
Bearing this in mind that a huge proportion of the market is accounted for by the South East and London. These areas have in general shown growth over the past few years.
Now if you consider that the average UK price is stagnating or edging downwards then that must tell you that prices are dropping in a significant number of areas in the UK.
It's horses for courses basically and everyone needs to look at their local market of interest and play it by ear as to whether they should wait or buy now.
Basically I am saying ignore all the media and newspaper headlines (particularly the Express) and make your own mind up based on your own personal circumstances and area of interest.

Are house price indices based on volume or value. Ie if the prices of cheaper houses are falling but those of more expensive houses are increasing the average house price change could be 0% but the total value of the housing stock could be increasing...I think....0

Around us .... south Hampshire/Dorset everything is selling hand over fist.
Waiting lists now for properties, one day on the market is one day too long here.
OK, maybe there are hellholes up North which no-one would want to live in ...... but, some people have to live there. These are what pulls the House Price increases down 'on average'.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
