Declined for RBS Credit Card

Well that was a shock!

Just been declined for an RBS credit card.

I have been in full time employment for over 20 years. Never been in debt, never been overdrawn, not in arrears with my mortgage. Don't have any other RBS products.

Last time I applied for a credit card I was accepted straight away and given a limit of £14k.

Only thing I could think would go against me would be I do pay my CC bills off straight away to avoid any interest charges and did have a Tesco CC but that was closed October last year.

Depends how much of that 14k you still have avaiable.

Could be for a variety of unrelated reasons, erroneous data input, CIFAS flag, all you can do is ask and note their response. It may have been an automatic assessment, when a manual one would have OKd you.

Think RBS look at all your outgoings logged with Experian and base decision on if they think your outgoings + potential available credit could cause problems in future. Any loans and mortgage payments ill be taken into account more likely.
