bank transfer?

Hi,

I have a buyer who would like to pay via bank transfer even thought I did not list this on my item payment description. I'm not too fussed that he wants to use this method, just as long as I get paid, he is happy and we both get good feed back. But he is asking me for my address and lots of other details, his feed back is good so I have no reason to suspect his is a scammer apart from his account is German and he wants to to send the item to London.

Could some one please tell me what exact details I need to give him for him to do a bank transfer to my account? Is it just account number and sort code?
He may be potentially using a German bank account though I suppose.

I know that really I should have just said, sorry I want you to pay via paypal and thats it like my listing says, but the only reason I have 100% fb is because I try and help people as much as I can and give them a positive experience when buying from me.

Your views and opinions would be greatly appreciated

Regards
Rob ;)

Check with your bank if there will be any fees associated with an international bank transfer.

You will need to provide the buyer with IBAN and BIC codes.

    Thanks for the reply,

He did say something about IBAN and BIC codes
This is what his email reads

    Hi!

To give you an idea I've appended the fill-in-form for international money transfers of my bank (the bank of the german post offices). They ask for your ...
    family and christian name
    street and number of house
    city and postal code
internat. abreviation of your country (can be looked up automatically)

IBAN (intern. bank account number - to be found on any of your bank
    informations)
BIC (bank international code - to be found ... )
name, adress and city of your local bank.

When you'll have received the money, please send the card to
    **************
    **********
    *******
    ***** *****
    London *** ***

    Best regards,

When you said about charges, do you mean that my bank (hsbc) will charge me to recieve money from a different country?

    Rob

If done correctly, a bank transfer from the euro-zone should incur no charges other than a token (pennies) charge for converting the currency.

The buyer will need the details he's asked for, and will need to select SHARED CHARGES when he makes the payment, and pay you in EUROs, not sterling. There won't be any charges, but you have to do this. Also, double check with your bank that THEY won't charge you. (Most don't)

Yeah sometimes banks can charge you for receiving international bank transfers. I would check with HSBC what they charge. I think it depends on the value of the payment and also the currency. I believe that sometimes the overseas bank can add charges too

I'm pretty sure it's against banking rules to charge for a euro payment if that's the currency of your account.

IBAN numbers contain no more information than is on a cheque. It is just a code to identify the country and bank along with the account number and sort code.
