Applied for a 0% fee free credit card last week. I had to phone Belfast branch to get the application form as the "email us and we'll post a form" instruction on their website didn't work.

Does anyone have experience of a recent application to them? How long before the card came and the BT was made? The info said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to process plus a further period (can't remember how long) to action the BT but these things aren't always as described.

I read some time back about a few people who got fairly low credit limits. I asked for £5k but suspect I'll get something like £2500. Again does anyone have recent info on this?

Took about a week for the form to arrive (via email to customer services)

Took another week to get word back I was getting a card (£1600 limit?) and they would not hounur the requested 5k balance transfer asked for (due to my limit)

Card arrived about 5 days later

Phoned and asked for a balance transfer of 95% of my balance (the max)

Money arrived in egg account 4 working days later.

£1600 is a bit crap, have perfect credit file no other debit other than £500 limit on egg, 1k overdraft halifx and £1k overdraft cahoot (all clear except for about £300 on the egg card) and earn around 20k.

Plan to cycle the money around egg money > Egg savings > current account till I get £200 cashback from egg, then leave it earning 6.2% in my current account until 6 months are up.

BTW WELLDONE on getting that 24k balance down to 7k in 12 months - WOW!

Thanks wacko, that's really clear and helpful.

I'm not sure I'd recommend the year I've just had but I'm really glad I've nearly paid it down and all on 0%!

Verbatim, you look to me (I could be wrong) to have 1 too many 0's after the £24 ?? in your signature.
