Hoarding...not just on TV

I have had a brainwave
I have one every so often.
I am going to swap some cupboards - if I get all my storecupboard stuff out from under the stairs and clear some of the trash that is also under there, then I can put in the stuff that is in the cupboard under my TV in the dining room. This will then make a far better and easier to manage store cupboard.
I am starting it any minute now.
The last time I had such a brainwave was the day I moved out of a house, as I was packing I thought "the crockery would have been much better in this warm cupboard with the packet and tinned food in the crockery cupboard" :rotfl: I would say better late than never, but in this case I'm not sure.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I had to go up the attic very briefly to put away the sleeping bags and to get some gift bags for DS's birthday tomorrow. I'm mean about gift bags, I recycle them endlessly and it's a family joke that everyone has to get the Winnie the Poo "You are One!!" bag every year. That's not clutter though, that's one box of stuff that's saved me ££££s over the years.
I do the gift bag recycling, but didn't realise how familiar some of the bags had become till my dd said one christmas "Mum I think santa has been rooting around in our attic on his way down the chimney":rotfl:so now I only reuse them once.
Be strong because things will get better...it might be stormy now but it can't rain forever!!0 -
Bad day today, ventured into the attic of doom, got completley overwelmed by it all and came back down without doing anything.
Then decided I had to do something so sorted dd and ds wardrobes out, bagged up the outgrown clothes and then threw the bag into the attic!!!!!! Honestly feel like crying today, don't think I'll ever get it clear. Why can I let perfectly good items go to the charity shop or for next to nothing on ebay, but waste half my life dithering over utter carp. Sorry for the rant.
I think we all do that completely overwhelmed feeling - at least, I know I do! I try to push myself to focus on sorting out a category ie childrens clothes, & look at the progress I've made rather than the stuff still to deal with.
Passed DS2's old school fleece onto a friend for her son, put 3 odd socks in the clothes recycling & an itchy scratchy jumper in the CS bag. Getting fleece sewn onto the curtains for the sitting room instead of having curtains & fleece piled up in my bedroom... Perfectionism strikes as I bodged up DS2's curtains & want to do the sitting room ones better, even though DS2's look ok now they're up. & so I put them off & do nothing, because then I haven't got it wrong...0 -

I do this too, but try to use them to give to non-family members so that I don't get them straight back ... although I do find it hard to let go of some of them and buy paper instead ... why???SpikyHedgehog wrote: »Perfectionism strikes as I bodged up DS2's curtains & want to do the sitting room ones better, even though DS2's look ok now they're up. & so I put them off & do nothing, because then I haven't got it wrong...

hoarding....... not just for humans!!!!!!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
I treated myself to an organic veg and meat box this week. It arrived today.
The meat is wrapped in wool/fleece offcuts from a farm to insulate it.
And the wool is soft and floofy and smells of hay and barns and sheeps......(I'm a bit of a bumpkin at heart).
The cat adored it, leapt on it and started puddling his paws into it, but then ruined the moment by trying to eat it :wall:. It's currently folded up in the lingerie washing bag like a pillow - it has 24 hours to earn its keep or it's back in the veggie box and waiting for the veggie man to come back next Thursday.
But it smells so lovely.
Actually, on the theme of smells, I've been sitting here this evening watching crud on telly and all of a sudden, I got a great waft of the sweetest flowers, like night scented stock, sweet williams, honeysuckle, that kind of thing. Now, whilst I've got sweet williams outside in the windowbox, the window is shut and when I went out there, I just couldn't smell it. So I had this mystery perfume wafting round me for a fair while.
Strange.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Do you mean it's wrapped in fleece fibre, as in sheared from a sheep? If so why not felt it into a ball for the cat to play with? You just need some hot and cold water and some soap.
I've got sacks of this sort of stuff btw because I teach spinning and it's also my main hobby. My cats adore fleece and the minute I unroll a bagful they're straight in there, padding it and rubbing their faces in it. The technical (somewhat jokey term) for this is snorgling the fleece. Lovely word!Val.0 -

Sounds like it - it's sort of like cotton wool/wadding in texture, just nicer. How would I do that?
(BTW, this isn't hoarding or keeping on the offchance. Honest.)

Send it straight back to the Farm Jo! :-) They will re-use it, thus saving them money which in turn will save their customers money.
I have a Riverford veg box and they take back all packaging.
My cat heads straight into my veg boxes aswell, usually before I've unpacked the carrots.

Lovely picture scaredy cat, thank you!
Took the cheap glasses and some more clothes to the charity shop today. As I set it down I said to the bloke on the till, "It's just junk really."
To which he replied, "Oh that doesn't matter. We can always find a home for things. It's surprising what people will want. Thank you."
It's that kind of attitude that makes me take our stuff to that particular shop. They also know the value of things. I saw some of my Mum's Wedgewood in the glass cabinet with a reasonable price on it.
Thank goodness for charity shops!0
