Cheapest High Quality Dry Cat Food?

Hi, I know there are so many similar threads but I can't find the exact answer I'm looking for! I have 5 cats & have been feeding them supermarket brands but 3 of them now have diahorrea from it so I'm looking for the cheapest cat food (as feeding 5 cats is obviously expensive, plus one is hairless so eats even more than a normal cat!) but would like it to be high quality. Don't mind whether I have to buy it in a supermarket or order it online. They are on both wet & dry food and I think I'm going to buy Butchers Classic wet as it seems to have great reviews/high meat content & is very cheap (maybe too good to be true?!)

Generally with cat food (as with a lot of other things), the more you can buy in bulk, the cheaper the food (pence/kg) is. As you have 5 cats, this makes sense as well if you can afford the up-front cost. This pretty much rules out buying from Supermarkets as the largest sizes they sell are usually around 2 - 3kg (ish).
I, too, have 5 cats and feed them Royal Canin which I buy in the 10kg size. This costs around £45 from somewhere like Zooplus.co.uk. Mine get through around 1kg per week, so this last 2.5 months. Mine have either Fit 32, Exigent or Sensible, though I am going to move them over to the Siamese breed food as it is a good food for both my Bengals and my moggies (I don't have Siamese though!
)
They also are fed on a mixed wet & dry diet. I did try mine on Butchers but 3 won't eat it and one of the other two had diarrhoea from it (first time in his 8 years I've ever known him to). But of course many others feed it without problem, so my experience may not be yours.0 -
When I looked into it about 6 months ago, Pets at Home Purely Dry Food seemed to be the cheapest for a pretty high meat content about 40% with a low feeding amount on the guide.
Feeding Guide (approximate per day)
Cat’s weight 2-3kg: 25-40g
Cat’s weight 3-5kg: 40-60g
Cat’s weight 5-7kg: 60-80g

I was only buying for one cat, but if you are buying for a few that would probably make buying some of the large bags of the premium brands cheaper too!

Thanks guys! Bought some Purely yesterday but will have to keep searching for something that can be bought in much bigger bags!
Thanks Fridaycat for the info on bakers, was going to buy a bulk of 24 tins but will try to get a smaller sample to check how it goes first!
EDIT: Oops meant Butchers not Bakers!0 -

Good thinking - you can buy packs of 6 tins from supermarkets for £2-odd
