I just give postage my best guess. Sometimes it's a bit over, sometimes a bit under. Anybody else do this? Is it considered too slack for words or bad practice? Honestly can't be arsed with weighing and measuring prior to it even being bought. (I'm not a powerseller or anything, just bung things on occasionally when I'm clearing stuff out).

If it's a bit over and the buyer complains (only happened once), I refund the difference: I figure if they're bothered enough to complain about 40p then they need it more than me.

I've been using a kitchen scales (bought for £1 in a car boot sale several years ago) to help improve my'best guess' and the RM 'pricing in proportion guide means I'm usually there or thereabouts in postage - usually rounded up to the next 50p or £1.

Don't forget you also need to charge for packaging and your time going to the post office. So if they complain, you need to tell them this.
