Santander given me £300 .....

Logged on Thursday to find a £300 credit to my Santander account from 'Transfer from switcher incentive ref 300 incentive'. :j

I'm fairly sure this isn't meant for me and assume they will be wanting it back :(

My question is, will they have to write to me asking for it back, or just take it from my account without asking or notice?

Check your account T&Cs. You'll almost certainly find something along the lines of "if we make a mistake on your account we will correct it and tell you about it on your statement". In other words...

    ...this^^

Yes, they will certainly just take it, just when your least expecting it.

It's quite obviously the £300 incentive payment they used to offer for switching to them. Why do you think you're not entitled to it? When did you open the account?

I opened the account a couple of months ago ... and yes we do have £10,000+ in an ISA with them .... but we've had our main bank account (in fact we have mortgage, 2 x ISAs, 3 x Esavers, credit card, zero ac & 2 other acs with them) for over 20 years !!?

However, thinking about it, I did open a Co-op ac (recommended by MSE) for all benefits a year ago, but because that was only free banking for 12 months, I moved everything back over to Santander and they recommended their preferred a/c with a high interest rate.

Their system has perhaps not registered that we haven't in effect switched for the first time to them?

.............so maybe it's Billy Bonus Sunday for me after all :j :T
