Asda Parking Fines

Ok, so the asda near where i live has a sign up saying you can only stay for 2 hours max unless you will be fined £60. Yesterday i had an interview with them and was told it would not last more than 2 hours. It finished 2.15hours later.

I did not know about the sign until i was told today and now i am abit worried about this so called fine!

Can cameras even give you fines? I'm confussed.

A PPC can't issue a fine and I asume you've not already been given a "ticket". Go on and enjoy the rest of youe week, nothing is going to happen.
  • Assuming that this is a private carpark and not a council one.

The worst that will happen is:

The PPC (Private Parking Company) will buy the registered keeper's name and address from the DVLA.

The PPC will send a fake parking ticket to the registered keeper hoping that the RK will mistake it for a real parking ticket and send them a cheque.

If the RK doesn't respond they will follow up with more letters asking for even more, hoping to intimidate vulnerable people into handing over their cash. These follow up letters will be made to look official demands from debt recovery companies and solicitors (Also con men in on the same scam).

These letters will stop being sent when the PPC realise the RK knows it is a scam and won't be sending them any money. They will cut their losses and try and intimidate someone else.

    Ignore them.

    Hopefully nothing will happen

If, as is likely, the car park is controlled by ANPR cameras, then in a few days the vehicle's keeper may receive an unenforceable invoice.

Since the company would of course have no information as to who the driver was, and the keeper is under no obligation to tell them, the matter is effectively dead in the water and will proceed in the way Hardworker describes.

So, if you do get anything, simply ignore it- it will go away.

If it is ASDA then it is HIGHLY unlikely to be Council. But if you get anything from a council, then come back as that will be an entirely different kettle of fish....

It will be Town & City if it's anyone - and like HardWorker2010 says, the most that might happen is some junk mail resembling a parking ticket (but it's fake) and then some other letters that you can ignore.

No private parking company (PPC) can actually issue a real fine or penalty. Please read on...

We have so much info on here to help you understand and be ready for the letters. One click & you see all current threads here, most of which are about the 'fake PCN' scam. Third from the top, click on 'PPC letters & threats'.

    1. Watch the Watchdog clip on there, and then

    2. scroll down to the pics of your fave PPC's threatograms, then

    3. Play a nice game of snap with each matching templated threatogram, then

    4. Tell your friends & family, colleagues, strangers, everyone! about the fake PCN scam so they never pay one.

    5. If you do get a fake PCN, complain to Asda in writing. Tell them their parking agents have bothered you when you went for an interview but luckily you are not daft enough to fall for the well-known 'fake PCN scam' as already outed on Watchdog and on the internet. However you are annoyed by the fake fine as you were in a job interview and other unsuspecting staff and customers may not know these fake PCNs can just be ignored. Say you feel this sort of protection racket gives Asda a bad name, especially with the debt collector threats the company uses which are intimidating and threatening to customers.

You will know what we mean about this being a SCAM, and you will get confidence when you've seen the letters & watched the Watchdog clip. :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

How on earth can a camera on a pole control a car park? the only way to do this is to link it to a barrier system that charges people on exit, to put a reasonable amount ( ie 50p/80p/£1 ) in a slot to get out, coupled with a few atendants to actualy help people park ( instead of looking gormless while putting reg numbers in a hand held machine) and you will have something aproaching controlled managed car parks.
