And I think the PCWorld price is about as cheap as you're going to find the DVD version - Find-Games.co.uk has the cheapest available one as £25.99 delivered.

Don't suppose anyone knows if the CD version has a different licence key format to the DVD version. I'm thinking of getting a copy of the CD version but using my DVD disk to reinstall on a different machine - all I really need is the extra licence number. (So me and my son can play Counter-Strike Source at the same time. This comes with HL2 and is one of the best online FPS games available).

Great game - great price ... shame about the messing about with STEAM it's a pain and totally pointless.
A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist.

Have Received Half Life 2 from dvd.co.uk but they sent me the 5CD version when my order was for the DVD version. Complained to them and got a reply that they inadvertently sent out a number of second-hand/pirated copies. This doesnt sound very good from a company i`ve used many times before. Anyone else had this sort of response ???

They "inadvertently" sent out some second-hand copies???? Sounds extremely dodgy to me - I'd be interested to know what Valve would have to say if they heard that.
Are they saying that the 5CD version they have been selling is not Kosher?

Well spotted - it's also now that price on their website, and you reserve it online then collect from a store. See here.

Fantastic price! Can't see anyone bettering that at the minute - I'm going to get one for my son's birthday next week, then I can take him on at Counter-Strike Source!
