Direct Travel Insurance

I took out a policy with Direct Travel a year ago without problem.

I now wish to vary the terms of my annual insurance (which they say is on automatic renewal) and take out a separate single trip cover for my son for a holiday to start shortly.

Throughout this week I have called them four times on three different days at different times hanging on for up to half an hour each time on a premium rate phone line. No answer and a significant phone bill. I emailed them four days ago and also no response.

Is there a problem with this company? I note MSE are still recommending them. However, how can one have any confidence in a non-contactable insurance company? The only option left is to send a hard copy letter but I've got no confidence that will get answered prior to my holiday in 2 weeks.

Any other experiences?
