Faulty curtain fabric - refund?

Hi,

I ordered 16m of curtain fabric (paid on credit card) on line which was delivered promptly and appeared to be all in order.

However when the curtains were made a number of imperfections (small holes and transparent lines in the weave) were visible as they were hung, particularly visible as light passes through.

These imperfections were not apparent prior to making the curtains but are not the cause of accidental damage.

An email to the company resulted in a reply stating that nothing can be done as the fabric has been used. Is this correct and is there anything I can do to recoup the money paid or are they right in what they say?

Perhaps a closer inspection should have been made but without it hung to the light it would have been difficult to see these faults in 16m of fabric. This wasn't cheap or poor quality material and it certainly spoils the curtains which otherwise I would have been very happy with.

Thank you in advance for any advice received.

David

Once they have been made up, sorry but yu have no chance.

What about putting qood quality linings on them, the light won't show through so much and you wont see the imperfections, worth a try.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I can also see the POV of the retailer, in adapting the material for your use you could be deemed to have accepted it.

Looking at my blinds there are some lines that may appear transparent - is it not just the way the material is made?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the replies.

The curtains do have a thick lining although a blackout may help if there is no chance of refund etc.

The faults are definitely not a part of the fabric, but I too can understand the retailers stance on this. My argument was that the faults were not visible until to the light (very difficult to check so much fabric fully) but perhaps for future reference that's what is needed - that or buy ready made :)

The "advice" you have been given is, at best, incorrect. It doesn't matter if you have "used" the fabric at all (in the context of the above comments). The fault did not become apparent until the curtains had been made and you have not lost your rights to a remedy.

When was the fabric delivered to you?
