building costs ?

i dont know if im in the right forum i have a 8ft7in x 17ft 7in garage and want to extend to 16ft 7in x23ft 7in and convert into a kitchen dinner and downstairs cloakroom.
does anyone know what sort of figure i would be looking at for building costs? i live in east sussex i know i need planning and have an architect
i have plenty of land to build on a garage at a later date.
Any advice would be great,

    Very rough guess say £120 per square foot for the extension.

    I can suggest an architect in East Sussex for you - a builder too, depending on which part of E Sussex (I'm over on the Kent border, near Staplecross).

    Re building costs - bear in mind that this will probably be the minimum cost for the "shell". Finishing will be on top and will depend on how specific you want to be and how much you want to spend. You might also need to add the cost of some services - electrician; plumbing; boiler engineer; resite oil/gas supply?

    Add a contingency. Our extension was on budget at £40k but eventually cost nearer £70k :eek: :eek: !!!
