Advice needed please- Redundancy and DMP

Options
Hi Everyone,

Sorry if something similar to this has already been posted!

My DH is about to be made redundant at the end of the month. However he has another job to go to but not until August. I know this is good but we are on a DMP and I am worried about the reaction of creditors! Not looking forward to this as our tax credits have all but stopped and we were looking to drop our payment anyway also new job pays less!

Will DH still be allowed to claim JSA for this short break in employment even if he has a job coming up? Is there any other help we can get? I work part time approx 12 hours per week and we have 2 children. My youngest starts school in September, So I will look to work more hours then. I hope this makes sense!

Thanks for any replies in advance :)

If he qualifies for JSA contributions based then he can claim for a month, yes.

You might be better off asking on the debt board about how to handle the DMP. Stuff happens and I would think they'd be glad you're trying to pay back your debts, rather than worried about a little less payment. But then, what do I know? I've never experienced one so maybe I'm just nicer than them!
