Glass Hire

Options
Hi there does anyone know if Tesco or any of the other supermarkets still do free glass hire and how you do it??
We've got our own caterers in as the wedding is in a barn and we are looking to avoid paying to hire, also its a bring your own booze so we will be looking for glasses for guests

I don't know if you have one near you - but we're thinking of getting our wine from the Majestic Wine Warehouse which does free glass hire.

Hmm that said, I know you have to returned the Majestic ones clean, not sure if that's the case with Sainsburys.

Oh thanks for the sainsburys link! I knew about waitrose, but thought sainsburys stopped. Now I can go to both if necessary!

Says nothing about it in here:

N I have heard that people have borrowed glasses before not buyin wine. But got a waitrose n a sainsburys in town, so one of them should be fine! (fingers crossed!)

So is there a maximum number you can borrow then?

I had to hire in glasses, really expensive. Fortunately I found some ex-hire ones which cost less to buy than it was to hire some...

Also sold them afterwards for a profit!

Possibly worth checking out hire shops and party hire places??

Witney waitrose let me hire the glassware for free and no stipulation on ordering booze from them. We had to return them clean (love dishwashers) and if you broke any it was a £1 a glass. We broke zero :). We just had to order them in a few week before and arrange a time slot to pick them up.

I googled and mostly it says to allow one of each type per guest plus a few extra. But of course, this would depend upon if you have a bartender to wash/replenish glasses or if you're asking people to reuse the glass they have.

Sainsburys charge the same no matter how many you hire, so better to have too many than too little.

EDIT: I've just read somewhere else that says of 100 ppl you can expect 60% to drink pints, 30% wine and 10% mixers/soft drinks. Not sure how much I agree with that though!
